Artifact #1: EDET 603 Course Portfolio

Context & Conditions -- EDET 603: Design and Development Tools I was taken during Fall - Year One. This course portfolio was created using Wix. The course included graphics, audio, video, and web design activities. Other assignments include a web 2.0 toolbox, a web 2.0 interactive lesson, and a multimedia project.

Scope -- The artifact was created to highlight the course assignments.

Role -- This was an individual assignment in which I was the sole web designer and builder for the web-based portfolio.

Instructional Design -- This artifact used the design, development, and implementation phases of the ADDIE model. These phases of ADDIE can also be applied to the MRK model. A template was chosen for the portfolio. The template was changed as needed and then developed with the addition of the content. it was then published so that it could be viewed by the public using the supplied URL.

An appropriate website builder was chosen that would allow viewers to easily navigate between the pages and subpages.

  • Ethics -- Candidates demonstrate the contemporary professional ethics of the field as defined and developed by the Association for Educational Communications and Technology.

Images, quotes, software, etc. were cited to give credit to the authors and creators.

Reflection -- The creation of this course portfolio was the closest I had come to creating a web page from "scratch." I initially had trouble when trying to change the template, as well as learning how to use the features of the website builder.

Role -- This was an individual assignment that I designed and created.

Instructional Design -- This artifact used the design, development, and implementation phases of the ADDIE model. These phases of ADDIE can also be applied to the MRK model.

Performance Indicator(s) --

  • Creating -- Candidates demonstrate the ability to create instructional materials and learning environments using a variety of systems approaches.

This artifact was created as a resource for colleagues. Several iPad note taking apps were included, as well as websites and videos that pertain to AT and UDL.

  • Using -- Candidates demonstrate the ability to select and use technological resources and processes to support student learning and to enhance their pedagogy.

A website builder was chosen to create a professional, online newsletter.

The images used were those already incorporated in the website builder.

Reflection -- The creation of this course portfolio was very enlightening. Providing simple definitions of UDL and AT helped clarify my knowledge and understanding of those terms. In other words, I had to understand them before I could teach others about them. I gathered very useful resources that I can use myself and share with others.
